Welcome Youth Law Center’s Summer Legal Interns!
Welcome Youth Law Center’s Summer Legal Interns!
Each year, the Youth Law Center hosts a cohort of summer legal interns, dedicated to the mission of making a difference in the juvenile justice and foster care systems. Their work will power research, advocacy, and network building to create a better future for our children and youth, their families, and their communities.
Meet our interns, sharing in their own words, why they are working with the Youth Law Center:
Kat Daffin, Rising 3L, The University of Texas at Austin School of Law
After working part-time as a Youth Law Center clerk this spring, I am excited to return to the organization for the summer! Before law school, I worked with young adults as a postsecondary advisor. My career goal after graduating is to continue supporting young people in their transitions to adulthood.
Enshia Li, Rising 2L, Stanford Law School
I am an active member of the Education Defense Pro Bono Project and gained valuable experience through internships with educational non-governmental organizations which fueled my passion to serve youth. I’m excited to continue those efforts at the Youth Law Center this summer.
Lola Medina, Rising 3L, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law
My long-term goal is to work as an attorney in child welfare services. Last summer, I was a law clerk for Cook County’s Office of the Public Guardian, and it was so rewarding that it shifted my zone of interest from public defense toward the foster care system. This is the field I want to be in for life. For that reason, I am so excited to work at the Youth Law Center this summer.
Emily Morgan, Rising 2L, St. Mary’s School of Law
As a first-generation college student, I have balanced the need to expand my worldview while staying in alignment with the values that have gotten me this far – kindness and empathy. I have served as a teacher in South Carolina, social worker in New Mexico, and in my short time in law school in Texas, am actively involved in juvenile adjudications at the San Antonio Municipal Court. I’m thrilled to be joining the Youth Law Center to learn from the team and support vital work.
Keep up with their work!

Join us on Thursday, September 12, to celebrate the first 45 years of the Youth Law Center!
Youth Law Center is hosting a special event in San Francisco that will honor Angela Vigil, Partner and Executive Director of the Pro Bono Practice at the Baker McKenzie law firm, and a tireless crusader for children’s rights. The event will also feature a special musical performance by world famous drummer and percussionist Sheila E., and affable Bay Area radio and TV personality Liam Mayclem is the MC and auctioneer.
