Extended Foster Care (EFC) is a statewide program that allows eligible young people to remain in foster care as nonminor dependents (NMDs) between the ages of 18 and 21 and to access age-appropriate supports and services to help them transition to adulthood, including housing and case management. This fact sheet addresses the process of voluntary reentry into California’s Extended Foster Care (EFC) Program.
