This report is the most comprehensive report ever released about Latino and Latina youth in the U.S. justice system. The report reveals that Latino and Latina youth receive disparate and more punitive treatment than White youth, even when charged with the same types of offenses, and that available data actually under-counts the disparities because states and the federal government fail to adequately identify Latino youth in data collection. The report contains recommendations for action for public officials, policymakers, and justice system personnel as well as for Latino communities, youth and families.
This was created as part of Building Blocks for Youth, a project of the Youth Law Center.
