Banuelos v. Tracy Settlement Agreement

YLC co-counseled with California Rural Legal Assistance on this federal civil rights action, Banuelos v. Tracy, on behalf of a Latino high school student who had been improperly detained, searched, and identified as a potential gang member at school. Through mediation the student obtained an agreement that law enforcement authorities would remove his name from all law enforcement gang files, a commitment by the school to revise its dress code policy and notification to parents, and a cash settlement.
