JIDAN Featured in Story on Inequalities in Legal Representation
Youth Law Center was quoted in a Los Angeles Times story examining the representation by panel attorneys in Los Angeles County. The article focused on disparate pay for panel attorneys and reviewed what happened in two juvenile cases in which youth represented by panel attorneys received inadequate representation. The article cited the work of the MacArthur Juvenile Indigent Defense Action Network aimed at improving the quality of representation in California. Youth Law Center leads the California team in those efforts, and is working to improve training and resources for all attorneys representing children in delinquency proceedings.
