2024 in Review: In Pictures
In 2024 we scored some major victories and even celebrated our 45th anniversary! The pictures in this newsletter are definitely worth a thousand words, and we invite you to learn more about the story behind each image.
We, along with Disability Rights Tennessee (DRT) and the law firm Sanford Heisler Sharp filed a lawsuit against the state of Tennessee challenging illegal and unconstitutional conditions in its facilities housing children in the state’s juvenile justice system.
Our work and advocates were featured in media outlets, including The Imprint, The Sacramento Bee, and The Washington Post. Click each image to learn more!
This newly enacted law responds to the key issue of chronic absenteeism raised in the report we published in November 2023, entitled Out of Sight, Out of Mind, that examined how California’s education data and accountability systems are failing youth in juvenile court schools.
We hope you’ll also join us in celebrating our Statewide Youth Justice Leadership Cohort (SYJLC), including three members who graduated from college this year!
Last but certainly not least, we celebrated 45 years of the Youth Law Center in September, and honored Advocacy, Justice, and Hope champion, Angela Vigil. Click here for an event recap.
Happy Holidays, and please consider clicking here to donate and help further our work!
